The 3rd annual Palmas release will be unveiled in a live online tasting at www.finospalmas.com at 6pm (GMT) on Thursday 21st November. The tasting of the four fino sherries (Una, Dos, Tres and Cuatro Palmas) will be conducted by head winemaker, Antonio Flores, from the Gonzalez Byass bodegas in Jerez.
The live tasting will explain the origin of the Palmas range, and Antonio will discuss his collaboration with Master of Wine, Sarah Jane Evans, who assisted in the barrel-selection for this year’s release.
Una, Dos and Tres Palmas all started life in the Tio Pepe solera and are six, eight and ten years respectively. Antonia and Sarah Jane Evans selected from a number of casks which retained a delicate covering of Flor (the layer of yeast that forms on the top of all fino sherries) despite their increasing age. Cuatro Palmas, the fourth and rarest wine, is an amontillado of over 40 years in age and was drawn from one of four unique barrels remaining in the Gonzalez Byass bodega. The range is bottled ‘En Rama’, unfiltered and unclarified.
During the tasting, viewers will have the opportunity to participate with questions and comments on Twitter using the hashtag #FINOSPALMAS.
Stockists include: The Wine Society, Berry Bros & Rudd, Lay & Wheeler and Cambridge Wines.
