If you tuned in to Jazz FM over the summer, it’s likely you heard top chefs and restauranteurs talking about the classic match of Tio Pepe & Tapas and details of our amazing giveaway of a trip to Jerez. A few months on and we’re catching up with our lucky winner Peter Harrison and his wife Michelle to see how they got on visiting the home of sherry.
The pair jetted off in late September to enjoy two days of Andalusian sunshine. The trip kicked off with a tour of the Gonzalez Byass bodegas – the historic cellars established in the early 19th Century by founder Manuel Maria Gonzalez which today houses sherries ranging from young Finos to 100 year old barrels of Pedro Ximenez. Having genned up on their Sherry knowledge, it was time to let Peter and Michelle loose on the town to discover the beautiful Moorish architecture, markets, cobbled streets and, of course, many tapas bars. In the evening, they headed to the heart of Jerez old town to enjoy Tio Pepe with local Spanish delicacies at the wonderful La Cruz Blanca restaurant.
Peter and Michelle “loved every second” of the trip. If only we could transport all our Tio Pepe fans to Jerez to experience the wonderful town, tapas, flamenco and drink chilled Tio Pepe in the Andalusian sunshine! If Peter’s experience has inspired you to take the trip, make sure you book a tour to come and visit and follow us on twitter to get tips and recommendations for your trip.
